Work statement

 

This work echoes conversations between Caribbean people about how they conceive of their Caribbeanness, but also speaks of the stereotypes that the Western world wants to attribute to contemporary artists. The images themselves often refer to history: that past still present in our Caribbean soul and bodies, or, as one of the voices in the work puts it, those imprints in our DNA.
